About
Julia Villarroel is an international artist whose musical
career began at a very young age in her home country.
She has performed hundreds of concerts as a soloist,
in ensembles, in guitar duos, and with orchestras throughout
South America and Europe. In recognition of her extensive
artistic trajectory, she was named a Member of the Culture
House of Ecuador in 2016 and was honored as a Cultural Ambassador
by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Culture.
She pursued her higher education in Spain under Prof. Margarita Escarpa,
graduating in 2021 with the highest honors and receiving a
Matrícula de Honor. Her final thesis, titled
"History of Academic Guitar in Ecuador," also received top marks.
In 2021, she began her master's studies at the Franz Liszt School
of Music in Weimar with Prof. Thomas Müller-Pering, completing the
program with the highest distinction. She is currently continuing
her artistic development through the prestigious Konzertexamen program
under the guidance of Prof. Ricardo Gallén.
Thanks to her distinguished career, she has been awarded the
Deutschlandstipendium and Charlotte-Krupp Stipendium scholarships
annually. Her project “Salgado en seis cuerdas”, an album featuring
transcriptions of Ecuadorian music by Luis H. Salgado, was funded
by the Neue Liszt Stiftung. Both the album and the accompanying
scores were published in Spain.
